The 2008 Adult Video News (AVN) awards for the best adult films of 2008 have been announced and are posted below. I can't honestly say that I have seen any of these films yet but plan to and will update this article as I do. The adult film industry makes over 10,000 films per year as opposed to an annual average of 400 Hollywood movies. As I discussed in my article, A Critic's View of Adult Films, there is a horrible sameness about most of these adult films that keeps leading me to the question of why the adult industry keeps producing the same slop year after year. Every so often, the adult industry makes a really good film and I have attempted to bring those to the public attention in my articles, The Ten Best Films of All Time and Adult Film Classics.

On numerous occasions, I have offered to present my views on adult films at the Annual AVN Convention in Las Vegas and at their Erotica LA summer exposition in Los Angeles. I have even offered to present a retrospective of the best adult films ever made along with panel discussions with the performers and people involved in making the films. On one occasion, the AVN even accepted my invitation and then reneged so they appear to be unwilling to hear my criticism or make significant efforts to improve the quality of their product or even preservation of adult film's historical legacy. In any case, here are the AVN's choices for the Best Adult Films of 2008.
